Boyfriend Refuses To Let Girlfriend's Friends Come Over Because They Hate Cats: 'I love my pets they are my children'

Cats, for their little itty bitty size, truly have an outstanding ability to cause insane amounts of drama in relationships. We don't get it purrsonally. If our partner had cats, we would fall even deeper in love with them, we're sure of it. But that's not how it works all the time. Seriously, we have heard some insane stories in our time writing for ICHC. Everything from girlfriends mistreating their boyfriend's cats, and the boyfriends taking the cat's side, to boyfriends saying that their girlfriends are 'unhygienic' for kissing their cats on their foreheads, all the way to ex-girlfriends kidnapping their ex's cat after cheating and then abandoning it. Really.  

But not all situations are quite as clear-cut. Like this one. What would you do if your partner's friends hated cats? Would you not let them come into your house like this person did or would you come up with some other solution?

    Recently my gfs friends have been coming over and my cat just gave birth so she's super sensitive. My gfs friends are not animal people and keep chasing Tsu my cat from her home. I have explained this to her but she doesn't seem to understand. I love my pets they are my children and I don't like the fact that she doesn't care that Tsu is a new mom.

    Well, things became a bit clearer. It's one thing to simply not like cats, but it's another thing altogether to try to chase the cats away and be mean to them. Get rid of these haters, that's what we think. You have to trust your cat's judgment anyway. If the cat doesn't like them, you probably shouldn't either.

    Edit: I spayed the male kittie as soon as I noticed Tsu was pregnant and my vet told me to wait 12 weeks to spay Tsuzan(it has been 1 week at most)

    ahknewb 5 days ago Certified Proctologist [25] INFO - what do you mean by "chasing my cat from her home". Can you be more specific with what that actually means? Are they literally chasing your cat out of your home to the point where the cat is outdoors? Are they chasing the cat into another room and closing the door? Are they asking you "Hey, could you put your cat in another room while we are here"?

    sfgothgirl 4 days ago The first time someone came over and chased my lactating mama cat outdoors would immediately be shown the door and banned from ever returning. You might want to give this relationship some thought. Is this the type of person you really want to be spending time with?

    sarabatgirl 5 days ago Partassipant [3] NTA. Your girlfriend's friends are cruel, disrespectful people who come into YOUR house and harass YOUR cat and they are out of line. And your girlfriend having friends like this reflects poorly on her. I would find a girlfriend who shares your love of cats or at least knows about basic respect.
